Irene!

Hurricane irene came through north carolina yesterday, and she packed a punch! It wasn't near as bad as floyd and fran were but she was no joke. Greenville has some clean up to do this upcoming week for sure. Trees are down, some couple fell on houses, but thankfully (from what I've seen) most didn't hit anything on the way down. We have been without power for 2 days now.yesterday wasn't so bad but today has been a little tough. I've been so bored. And did I mention its hot?

In all honesty, I should have gone home on Friday but I kinda wanted to prove to myself that I could survive a hurricane by myself. That I didn't need my Momma and Daddy with me. And tonight its looking like im going to be in the apartment all by myself. My roommates are all else where. But that's okay too because I could have packed up and gone home today. there is power back home. But, again, I need to prove to myself that I can be a grown up and stay in an apartment by myself. Even without power.

Once I get some power back, fingers crossed for tomorrow, ill update some more. This week has been full of fun things as well as this weekend. Even during the hurricane.

2 years down, 2 to go!

In just a little over a week, school starts again.

Me and 129 other students will be starting our professional school. That sounds weird, huh?

Nursing school has come faster than I have ever imagined. I never thought I would actually get accepted, much less on the first time and here I am about to start.

It feels like I'm just a freshman starting college all over again.

Two years of studying 24/7/365. Am I ready? Yes, no, maybe so!

I'm honestly scared outta my mind.

I'm doubting whether I can do it or not.

I'm nervous. Anxious. Excited.

Ready to know the outcome.

Ready to be done with boards. Passing them, of course!

But I don't want to wish these 2 years away. My last years of college.

I hope they don't go by as fast as the first two did. Because it literally feels like I blinked and there they went.

I know I'll meet some awesome people, hopeful people who will turn into great, lifelong friends.

But right now I mainly just want to make it through school with as many A's as possible and no C's. haha!

Here's to two long, hard, fun years of nursing school.

I CAN DO THIS!!

hope

Be strong, and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24

There are many times a week when I say "I hope to..." Shoot, I probably say something along those lines twice a day if not more.

When I say "I hope this" or "I hope that" or "hopefully so and so will happen" I've realized that, that hope isn't exactly the hope talked about and described in the Bible. When we say that we have hope in Jesus, that is a completely different word to me. And trust me this lesson has just hit home for me. I don't know why, it should have been a long time ago.

The worldly hope is not certain it's something that we are wishing for and wanting to happen but who knows if it will or not. If it does, a wish and want of ours came through for us. Biblical and Godly hope so very different. There are lots and lots of verses throughout the Bible that speak of hope. I see and understand this hope as not just a worldly want of ours, but, instead something that will for certain happen we just have to trust the Lord and wait until it does! That is comforting to me. Biblical hope is steadfast (I think that's the word I'm looking for).

When we have hope in the Lord that He has something up His sleeve, I interpret that as we are in the waiting and He is teaching us and polishing us up for that something we have hope for. Maybe we have to hope for something to appreciate it. Maybe in the process of having hope He is teaching us a bigger lesson.

I don't know where exactly this has gone but it has been on my mind lately! I think, Jesus has as much hope is me as I have in Him. At least, I'd like to think so. I know that I have a lot of hope, but plenty of work to do, as well.

Hope is a expectation that is certain to happen. If it's biblical! And not the human in us just wanting.

For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. Romans 8:24-25

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

done for the summer

Welp, today is my last day driving to Nashville. In other works, today is my last day of work for the summer. :( You'd think I'd be happy, and I am to an extent. I'm ready to get everything organized for school, I'm ready to really clean my room here at home from top to bottom, I'm ready to just breath a little bit before school. But.. I love work. There are not too many days that I dread going into work. I have grown to love the residents there (most of them), love the people I work with, and the people I work for.

I am really kinda sad.

What exactly are my days going to be filled with for the next week?

I don't get to wear my super comfy scrubs on a daily basis without looking like I'm crazy since I won't be going to work.

I don't get to make any more money, except on the weekends I work while in school.

I don't get to see my sweet little ladies at work.

It will be weird not seeing Mr. K, almost every afternoon, sitting in his door way being nosy and asking me as soon as I walk over to east wing "Do you have me today?" And the thing is I don't hardly do a thing for him when I do work his hall, he's so independent. But it's nice knowing that I have become a familiar face in the building.

I'm ready to go back to work and I still have to work this afternoon!

But, school calls. :)

It's HOT!!

Y'all I love living in NC but this summer has been atrocious! Today it is supposed to be 100. Or at least feel 100. I might would die if I worked outside. Thank the good Lord above I have a job in the A/C. I honestly can't imagine working outside on days like today. Do you think they get the day off? I doubt it, but that would be nice.

The point of this post, I think the heat sucks the life out of most people. I know it does me. I don't wanna do a darn thing when it's hot outside. Shoot I don't even wanna eat sometimes. I have no energy to run, go to work, clean my room, do anything basically. I'm just ready for a 'cold' front, if you will. I'd kill for 80 to 85 degree weather.

BRING ON FALL!! AND COOLER WEATHER!!
